Kunsthal Rotterdam: Keith Haring, The Political Line

Keith Haring is the new theme of the exhibition in Rotterdam’s museum Kunsthal. Felix Kops was responsible to make a video that introduces the exhibition of the museum. He asked me to produce an oldskool hiphopbeat for the video to create an 80’s vibe, so of course I said yes. The goal was to make a vintage distorted video with vintage sounding audio.
I was very happy to produce the soundtrack, because oldskool hiphop is one of my specialties! Keith Haring is an inspiring artist from New York, so the combination of hiphop with the old vintage style video was a good choice.

‘The Political Line’ is een grootse tentoonstelling over het leven en werk van de invloedrijke Amerikaanse kunstenaar en activist Keith Haring (1958-1990). Met zijn onmiskenbaar eigen stijl ontketent Haring, protegé van Andy Warhol, een revolutie in de kunst van de jaren tachtig.
Hij laat zich inspireren door graffiti, strips, muziek, dans, ‘hoge’ kunst en populaire cultuur, en ontwikkelt een herkenbare beeldtaal. Met honderdtwintig kunstwerken uit internationale verzamelingen gaat de tentoonstelling uitvoerig in op de sociale en politieke aspecten van het levenswerk van deze wereldberoemde kunstenaar.”
